Coaching with Roberto Mandje – FAQ

Why should I choose you as my running coach?
Because I’ve lived it. I know firsthand what it takes to build endurance, prevent injuries, and perform under pressure. My goal is to take what I learned as a professional athlete and translate it into practical, personalized coaching you can use every day—whether you’re training for your first 5K or trying to qualify for Boston.

Do you create personalized training plans?
Yes. Every athlete I work with gets a custom plan built around their fitness level, lifestyle, and goals. These aren’t cookie-cutter downloads—they’re adaptive, evolving plans that I update as you progress so you’re always moving forward.

What coaching options do you offer?
I offer one-on-one coaching with regular feedback, pacing and race strategy support, and corporate wellness coaching or speaking engagements. Each option is tailored to meet the needs of the athletes or groups I’m working with.

How do your personalized training plans work?
We’ll start with a conversation about your fitness, racing goals, and schedule. From there, I’ll design a plan that fits your life and your ambitions. As you train, I’ll provide feedback and make adjustments so the plan evolves with you.

Can you help me with pacing for marathons and other races?
Yes. I’ve paced athletes at races all over the world, and I know how important pacing is to race-day success. I can help you develop a strategy that keeps you consistent and ensures you finish strong.

Do you work with beginners?
Absolutely. Many of my athletes are training for their first half marathon or marathon. I love helping beginners build confidence, avoid common pitfalls, and discover how rewarding running can be.

Do you work with advanced or competitive athletes?
Yes. I also coach experienced runners who are chasing PRs, aiming for Boston qualifiers, or competing for age-group podiums. My background as a professional runner allows me to provide advanced strategies for high-performance training.

Do you offer corporate wellness coaching?
Yes. I work with companies to provide motivational talks, group training, and wellness sessions that connect running lessons to resilience, focus, and teamwork. It’s one of my favorite ways to share what running has taught me beyond the track.

How do I get started?
The best first step is to reach out to me directly. Once we connect, I’ll learn more about your goals, then design a personalized training plan and coach you every step of the way.

Did you coach Casey Neistat?
Yes, I did. I coached Casey to his first sub-3 marathon. Casey is one of the hardest working people I know, and honestly, part of my job was reining him in. Left on his own, he’d try to hammer every run. I gave him structure, told him what to do and when, and helped him taper and pace smart. A big part of our work together was mindset coaching — reminding him that training smarter often beats just training harder. He documented the whole process on YouTube and Instagram, so a lot of people got to see the ups and downs of that journey.

What personalized coaching services do you offer for runners in 2025?
I provide fully customized training plans, pacing and race strategy, mindset coaching, and one-on-one support. Every plan adapts as you progress, so you’re always training smart for your goals.

Do you work with runners of all levels?
Yes. I coach first-timers, competitive age-groupers, and everyone in between. Whether you’re aiming to finish your first half marathon or break three hours in the marathon, I’ll design a plan that works for you.
